Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, speaking at NAREDCO's NextGen Conclave in Mumbai, announced that the state government will issue 150 to 160 separate tenders for the development of 3,360 acres of land owned by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). The land spans both urban and rural areas, with Sarnaik encouraging developers to focus on semi-urban and rural projects as well.
Renowned architect Hafeez Contractor has been enlisted to design the master plan for utilizing MSRTC’s land bank. Additionally, MSRTC will be designated as a planning authority, enabling it to sanction development plans under one roof with enhanced technical capabilities.
While some plots in eco-sensitive zones like Lonavala, Khandala, and Mahabaleshwar are restricted from development, the majority of land parcels will be available under the new development control rules, offering developers higher floor space index (FSI) for real estate projects.
